World Bicycle Relief is transforming individuals and their communities through the Power of Bicycles; we envision a world where distance no longer prevents access to healthcare, education and economic opportunity.
World Bicycle Relief was founded in 2005 by F.K. Day and Leah Missbach Day in response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami. By partnering with aid organizations in Sri Lanka we distributed over 24,000 bicycles, empowering survivors. Today, we have assembly facilities in six African countries and bikes on the ground in 13 countries across Africa, and Southeast Asia.
