Mark Hardingham is vertically pinned with water rushing over him; friends rush to his aid, make sure he's breathing and quickly dislodge him
A dramatic rescue of a kayaker caught in a waterfall was captured on the helmet camera of another kayaker, who swiftly initiated a rescue operation. A group of seven kayakers in Devon, England, were paddling down the Lyn River negotiating waterfalls when Mark Hardingham paddled off line. His kayak plunged into the bottom of the falls, leaving him vertically pinned with water rushing over him. Watch the tense moments as his friends quickly come to his aid in this Epic TV video posted Monday:
According to Epic TV, the incident occurred Saturday, and the other kayakers were James Bradley, Pete Henderon, Carl Ross, Mark Shackleton, Justin Gale, and Simon Morse.
“A great reminder for us all of the unpredictable nature of whitewater and the importance of always paddling with good friends and carrying safety gear,” Epic TV wrote.
Indeed. If not for the quick response from the other kayakers, this could have had a much different result.
