Baltimore, Maryland – After a successful summer expanding Inside Lacrosse’s Recruiting Series with a June Summer Recruiting Preview Issue, the first of the Recruiting Vignettes on ESPNU and two popular tournaments, IL is continuing the expansion of its IL Invitational event brand by announcing a new series of regional individual recruiting showcases for both boys and girls this fall. The IL Regional Invitationals will allow male and female high school players in the classes of 2015-2018 to display their talents in front of college coaches while garnering unprecedented media coverage. “Our IL Invitational summer team tournament was extremely well received,” said Inside Lacrosse Director of Events Dan Flynn. “We were grateful for the complimentary feedback from participants, parents, coaches and officials. The next step is to offer the same type of exposure opportunities on an individual basis to high school players who dream of playing in college and want to be seen, get noticed and leave their mark. Inside Lacrosse is in a unique position to offer that, and we are working with some dynamic partners on these Regional Invitationals this fall.”
Based on popular demand, Inside Lacrosse significantly ramped up its commitment to recruiting coverage in 2014. Part of that commitment was creating the Inside Lacrosse Recruiting Series, which consists of expanded print, digital and social media content as well as participation events for high school players.
Session I of the IL Invitational ran June 15-18 at Goucher College and crowned champions in three age brackets: Mesa Fresh won both the 2015 and 2017 brackets and the Palm Beach Revolution took the 2016 division. In Session II July 20-23, also at Goucher College, the Baltimore Breakers won the 2017 division, Prime Time took 2016 and Leading Edge won the 2015 bracket.
The first of IL's announced fall events feature two girls invitationals.
Ashley McCulloch, a former All-America player at Virginia and IL’s Assistant Director of Events said, “I’m especially excited to extend the IL Invitational brand to include events for high school-aged girls. As a part-time club coach and high school official, there are precious few opportunities for girls to get this kind of exposure and media coverage.”
The first regional showcases will take place in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast areas:
IL Midwest Girls Invitational Sept. 27 St. Louis, MO
IL Carolina Boys Invitational Oct. 4-5 Greensboro, NC
IL Midwest Boys Invitational Oct. 18-19 St. Louis, MO
IL Southeast Girls Invitational Oct. 25-26 Atlanta, GA
IL Southeast Boys Invitational Nov. 1-2 Atlanta, GA
“I’m thrilled that we will be expanding our recruiting events this fall to include female divisions,” stated Halley Quillinan, a former All-America at Syracuse and the ILWomen editor. “What the entire staff was able to offer our male participants at the IL Invitational team tournaments this summer was an unparalleled experience, both on and off the lacrosse field. As we continue to grow the ILWomen brand, our recruiting coverage remains a huge priority. These showcase events will be at the forefront of our coverage in the coming months.”
Top players from each region will be invited to participate by Inside Lacrosse based on staff and coach recommendations. High school and club coaches can also nominate worthy players. Nominations must be submitted by Aug. 22. For more information on dates, format, locations or to nominate a player, go to ILInvitational.com.
