Martin Kaymer holds on to The Players Championship

by Blogger Todd Brode

Kaymer made it interesting down the stretch with a double bogey on 15, his lead dwindled to one stroke after the rain delay. Kaymer had a par on 16, then after his tee shot on the island green 17, the ball bounced off the hill and raced to the fringe stopping just inches from the water. His second shot came up way short. His par putt was a 28 foot, with a huge break and he calmly sank it for his par. Another par on 18 and Martin Kaymer won The Players Championship by one stroke at thirteen under par, in nearly dark conditions. Jim Furyk with a final round 66 finished at twelve under par, just one back of the winner, Kaymer. Sergio Garcia was solo third with a round of 70 on Sunday and was two shots back. Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth tied for fourth at ten under par. Jimmy Walker, Rory McIlroy, David Hearn, Lee Westwood, and Francesco Molinari all tied for sixth at nine under par. Play was delayed for more than 90 minutes due to lightning in the area, and finished right as darkness was setting in. What a great tournament and an even better finish congrats Martin!!!!   Now Checkout the Best Mexican Golf Courses
