NCAA Title Game - Kentucky vs UConn

by Guest Blogger-VJ Vemu

Today will be the NCAA title game and it is between two teams nobody expected to make it this far.

An 8 seed and a 7 seed duking it out for the title. Kentucky vs UConn.

This is a very tough matchup to pick, both teams are very inconsistent and you don't what team will show up. I think Kentucky is favorites to win but will need to pull off a great game to beat the Huskies who are on a roll right now. Kentucky starts 5 freshmen which is why I am a little skeptical for their title chances in this game. There is a big X-Factor in this game for the Wildcats, and no it's not a freshmen.

It's the sophomore Alex Poythress.

Poythress stayed back at Kentucky after his freshmen year (Surprise isn't it?). But his freshmen year was disappointing and he quickly fell out of the spotlight in college basketball. He was also forced to sit on the bench and watch as John Calipari started five freshmen this year and made Poythress a reserve player. But Poythress stuck with it and has been a solid contributor off the bench and came up big with some key baskets against Wisconsin including a vicious dunk which shook AT&T Stadium.

Poythress will be key against UConn, if he can be a big presence against the Huskies, Kentucky will have an easier time winning this game. He can matchup with DeAndre Daniels and make UConn work for baskets by his ability to help out on the pick and roll against Napier and Boatright.

With Willie Cauley-Stein out with an ankle injury again. Poythress will need to step up big and help lead Kentucky to it's 9th national title
