Anastasia Ashley is quickly becoming one of the most famous female surfers on the planet. It helps that she recently appeared in one of the most highly anticipated magazines of the year: the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and that she was recently the star of a viral video featuring one of her best assets.
As one of only three female athletes appearing in this year’s Sports Illustrated issue, Anastasia now stands alone in being able to say that she’s a Sport’s Illustrated swimsuit model as well as a member of the two-to-twenty club—meaning she can surf in all wave conditions from two to 20 feet! Ashley, who’s been seriously modeling for the past few years, is often asked whether she is a model or a surfer. Well, the easy answer is she is both, because she’s at the top of her game in both those worlds.
Anastasia’s surfing ability has been on display for the better part of two decades, but for some reason, people still question her abilities. Just to dispel any misconceptions, here’s a quick cheat sheet on her competitive career (she also won the NSSA National Championships at the age of 16):
2013 – Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards nominee for overall performance
2013 – 2nd Women’s Pipeline Pro
2013 – 3rd place Red Bull Qiantang Team Challenge
2013 – 2nd place APSS Shoe City Pro
2012 – 3rd place Honda Pro
2011 – 3rd place women’s Pipeline Pro
2010 – Women’s Pipeline Pro champion
2008 – APSPR Corona Pro Tour women’s champion
2007 – Women’s ECSC women’s runner-up
2005 – ASP Triple Crown rookie of the year
How many models do you know who have been nominated for an XXL Award and also have an NSSA national championship under their belts?
