Taiwanese badminton players dominated an international competition in Vienna, Austria, on Saturday, finishing at the top of the men’s doubles and women’s singles.
The finals of the men’s doubles pitted two Taiwanese pairs against each other at the Austrian International Challenge.
Chen Hung-ling and Lu Chia-pin beat fellow Taiwanese Liang Jui-wei and Liao Kuan-hao 16-21, 21-12 and 21-13 in 42 minutes to take the title, while their rivals took silver.
Lee Sung-yuan, the Taiwanese team coach, praised the players, saying they surpassed competitors from other countries in terms of skill and speed.
Taiwan also dominated the women’s singles, with Pai Hsiao-ma beating her compatriot Cheng Chi-ya in the finals in two straight sets in 35 minutes. Pai won 21-18, 21-11.
Lee said Pai and Cheng overpowered their rivals in the semi-finals with good serves and aggressive play.
